Report a bug or request a feature
Bug reports and feature requests are welcome as GitHub issues — Magpie is open source — or through the feedback board. Post it once and I read every one.

For anything private — a question you'd rather not post publicly — just drop me a line.
Updates
Magpie updates itself via Sparkle — it checks the release feed and offers new versions in-app. You can also re-download the latest notarized DMG from the homepage at any time; installing over the old copy keeps your settings.
02 Requirements & installation
What you need
Magpie needs macOS 14.0 or later on Apple Silicon. No account, no admin rights.
Installing
Open the DMG and drag Magpie into Applications — the app is notarized by Apple, so it launches without warnings.
03 Common questions
A site that used to work suddenly doesn't.
Platforms change things; the yt-dlp engine Magpie is built around is actively maintained and usually fixed within days. Install the latest Magpie update first — if the site still fails on the newest version, please report it (email or GitHub issue) with the link that fails.
Does anything run through your servers?
No. Downloads run entirely on your Mac, over your own connection — no middle-man server, no account, no telemetry. See the privacy policy for the full statement.
Something else is wrong.
Write to contact@lucesumbrarum.com or open a GitHub issue with the app version (Magpie → About) and the link you tried — that's usually enough to reproduce it.
Manufacturer. Luces Umbrarum — a one-person studio building small native Mac apps. Back to Magpie.
